Some of the most valuable lessons I have learned over the years include:

- business skills training courses offer time away from daily operations and allow one to focus on the business and get out of “in-the-business” thinking
- networking is more than merely exchanging business cards at events, it takes at least eight touch points to get someone to buy from you
- networking is essential is any business
- processes setup in early stages of your business will help sustain it
- cash flow is critical, and needs to be watched closely
- profit and cash flow is not the same, learn the difference
- listen to your staff when they have something to say
- do regular team building exercises, they don’t need to cost much and are very important to the team-bonding
- picking business partners which compliment your skills – crucial to the sustainability of the business
- find out which training grants are available, and use them to up skill your staff
- be frugal with your operational expenses, every penny counts
- put the company vision up where all can see it, no point in having it where no one can see it
